He will be reading from and discussing his book "One Hundred Miles from Manhattan." Fesser is well known for his Madrid-based national morning radio talk show, Gomaespuma, which ran for 25 years and had over 1 million listeners.

Arts of Noh

A unique exhibit of materials, seldom seen outside Japan, related to Japanese noh theater. The exhibit centers on traditional and contemporary masks by master artisan Hideta Kitazawa: these exquisitely crafted, hand-painted artworks, all used in performance, range from beautiful ko-omote (young woman) masks to terrifying horned hannya (demon) masks. The exhibit also features a collection of noh mask-making tools and materials showing the process of making a noh mask, a beautiful embroidered kitsuke from a noh costume made by Kyoto firm Sasaki, and a variety of images and rare materials related to noh in performance.

Arts of Noh Opening Event

Join us for the opening event of "Arts of Noh," on display March 29 to November 8, 2015. This exciting event will feature master mask-maker Hideta Kitazawa, whose masks are the focus of the exhibit; David Crandall, a former professional in the Hosho school of noh; and director-performer Jubilith Moore, a noh practitioner and expert in its comedic "sister" form, kyogen. The event will include demonstrations of noh dance and music, commentary about noh and its striking visual elements, and an opportunity to see Mr. Kitazawa work on a performance mask. A Q&A, reception, and chance to view the full exhibit on its opening day will follow.
