April Social Action Sunday - THIS Sunday, April 19 - We're making sandwiches!

Sunday, April 26

12:15 pm         Pizza lunch

12:30 - 2 pm   Social Action Activities

Join us to prepare 1,800 sandwiches (always a favorite!) to benefit the Atlanta Union Mission/Men's Division. We will also separate the collected men's suits to benefit the same agency and will collect ties for the Ties That Matter project.

This month's Social Action Sunday will also be highlighting a few Earth Day-friendly initiatives. We'll be collecting electronics for recycling (see article below) and planting seeds to replenish the milkweed plant. Did you know the milkweed plant is the only source of food for the monarch butterfly?! Because we rid our gardens of weeds, the milkweed plant is becoming increasingly hard for the estimated remaining 4,000 monarch in the United States to find. Read more about it here.

April's Social Action Sunday is being sponsored by Brotherhood. Questions? Contact Judy Thomas, 404.252.3073, ext. 330.

Please RSVP online so we can plan accordingly.

Family Promise Returns May 24-31 and we need YOU!

Temple Sinai is hosting Family Promise once again next month, May 24 - 31.  Please join us as we make Sinai a temporary home for our guest families!  We are looking for volunteers to stay as overnight hosts or Saturday on-site hosts, assist with move-in/out and provide dinners.

Many schools will be out for the year - take advantage of the timing and volunteer with your whole family. OR grab a friend and plan an overnight together, with or without the kids!  It is a wonderful way to help another family in our local community.

We are now using SignUp Genius to organize our volunteers.  Please click here to volunteer.

Questions? Please email us.

Calling all 20s & 30s! Volunteer with Gesher and the USO!

Sunday, May 31

Hartsfield-Jackson Airport

Join Gesher as we give back to our troops by volunteering at the Atlanta Airport USO.
Together, we'll welcome soldiers, serve them food, and watch their bags while they take a much-deserved break. Shifts are three hours and are available from 9:00 am till 6:00 pm. Bring your patriotism and positivity to this unique opportunity to thank a soldier! Open to all in their 20s & 30s. For more information and to register as a volunteer, email Allan Hytowitz or Neil Hytowitz.

The Early Childhood Education committee sponsored March's Social Action Sunday to benefit the American Red Cross in conjunction with National Red Cross Awareness Month. We cut and sewed canvas fabric, decorated and filled bags with emergency care necessities. In total we made about 152 bags! Special thanks to Heather Weiner and Allison Mednitz who did an amazing job coordinating the event.

Sinai was the Top Participating synagogue at the 2015 Hunger Walk. We had more than 75 people participate. Temple Sinai raised $5,000 for the Atlanta Community Food Bank, the sponsoring agency of the walk. Special thanks to Shelly Satisky & Laila Berland for organizing the event and to everyone who took the time to help a very worthy cause.
