From Chris: I have heard that there are 36 half way houses on the island at present and now they are allowing pedophiles to come on the island. Are we being overrun by these misfits ... can we let our children out alone anymore? Now we're not getting a police station on the island ... what can we do to prevent this from getting any worse? What are our elected officials doing about this? Something has to be done!
Update: Chris, thank you for sharing your concerns. The actual number of rehabs/sober homes on the island is unknown at this time.
Since many aspects of sober homes are protected by the Federal government, to make a difference, concerned citizens across the country, must contact their U.S. Congress representative(s) in this matter. There is a police sub-station located at the Singer Island RB-CRA Ambassador Ops Center, 1229 E Blue Heron Blvd. It is used by officers for processing paperwork and not manned, though. To help deter crime, residents are reminded to keep car doors and homes locked, and avoid leaving valuables in plain sight. If you SEE something, SAY something!
