Child Specialist Supports Camp for Kids

CAN's Child Specialist, David Glanz, LCSW, recently participated in a wonderful opportunity in collaboration with the Family Safety Center and Domestic Violence Interventions Services (DVIS). It was for the inaugural Camp Hope. Camp Hope is a summer camp, supported by YMCA of Greater Tulsa, for kids who have experienced or witnessed a traumatic event in their lives. There were 37 participants for this first year event. Children experienced camp activities such as canoeing, archery, arts and crafts, rock climbing and zip-line. Many children experienced these activities for the first time in their life. Fun was had by all and many new friendships were made; in spite of all the rain!

There were three therapists to assist and be available if needed: David Glanz, LCSW, from CAN; Jason Davis, MSW, from OU Physicians Wayman Tisdale Specialty Clinic; and Audra Miller, MS, LPC, from DVIS.
