News: CCX2015

New England Foundation for the Arts pulled together 200 arts educators, arts administrators and artists to Keene for the Creative Communities Exchange (CCX) program in early June. Representatives from New Hampshire were proud to provide information for our communities.

What is CCX? This fast-paced biennial event gathers New England leaders who are invested or engaged in creative economy and creative place-making projects for networking and practical workshops. One particularly enriching presentation was given by Jennifer Olsen, ED of Waterville (ME) Main Street. Her focus was on transformative creative work, getting to the underlying causes of organizational stress means asking for one's motivation to work with others: is it donor fatigue, efficiencies of scale, cross-promotional or programming opportunity, a desire to grow exponentially or shrink strategically? Change is the key word here. For more information about this presentation visit  www.watervillecreates.org

Arts Education

Our new Arts Education page is an initial effort to provide a comprehensive census of opportunities for arts education in the Upper Valley.

* The list is restricted to organizations: some that specialize in art education, and others for which education is a component rather than a primary function.

* We have tried to indicate the age levels served, and have distinguished between direct instruction and public outreach progams.

* We have included some performing arts organizations that, as far as we can tell, encourage learners, while excluding others that have traditionally required a high level of accomplishment for admission.

We ask for your feedback. Is your organization listed? If not, should it be? Should the list include individual teachers? Can you let us know about organizations offering instruction in the literary arts? If you participate in a reading or poetry group, writing workshop, or other literary-based program, email info@uvarts.org with information about your group.
