2012 Burglaries' Follow-up; Vacation reminders; & Congratulations to KPD Chief Hafner!

Man Sentenced for Westlake Burglaries
Justin Andrews, the man responsible for the 13 home burglaries in Westlake in 2012,  was sentenced on Friday, May 29. He is now on his way to Huntsville to serve 20 years in prison. Prosecutors were able to add add the 13 Westlake burglaries in his sentencing phase which is why he received a lengthy amount of prison time. He will be eligible for parole, but Keller Police Captain Brenda Slovak and some of the Westlake and Houston victims will be contacting the parole board when his parole hearing date is set.  Our police personnel were told the hearing will occur in approximately 7 years and they will receive notification when the date is set. THANK YOU to our police officers and criminal investigators for an incredible job, including long and tedious follow-up work necessary to ensure that justice was served!

Reminder: Vacation Watch is Available

With summer upon us, now is a good time to have a plan in place when vacation time arrives. As a reminder, please refer to this helpful safety check list as you prepare to travel. Even small efforts can really help in preventing crime around your home like double checking that locks on all doors, windows, and vehicles are secured, activating security systems, and asking a neighbor to pick up your mail and paper. Don't forget our police department provides a Vacation Watch Program and provides a security house check at no charge for all Westlake residents. This service is available to residents who will be away from home for at least three days, with a maximum of 21 days. Just fill out this House Check Form and turn it in to Keller Police Department before you head off for summer fun with friends and family.
