UCU

This week: some things to think about while preparing your inventory, suggestions if you have never looked into accepting credit cards for our business before, and a VERY important response required from you!

As You Prepare Your Inventory...

Just a couple things to think about:

  • In our post-show surveys, attendees consistently vote that they would like to see more craft kits available for purchase. If you think that's something that could apply to your work, it looks like you could do pretty well for yourself and make some very happy customers!
  • If you are a clothing vendor, consider offering clothing in plus sizes, and promoting this at your booth. This is something we receive a lot of feedback about in our fan surveys (lack thereof), so you'll be making these customers very happy if you do!
  • If possible, we also encourage you to offer a $5 item at your booth, which you can highlight with one of these nifty pop-up signs that we'll be handing out at vendor check-in. Customers know to look for this sign at vendor booths to spot a bargain, and while this is not mandatory, it seems to be a fun treasure for our customers and a way to encourage some kind of shopping with everyone! In our vendor newsletters we always encourage supporting the DIY spirit and enumerate why shopping at UCU is important, but the $5 item helps those that have felt the economy strain still feel good about supporting you and your work.

What's the Best Solution for Accepting Credit Cards?
square We are happy to be able to provide you with FREE wireless internet throughout the entire weekend! You'll receive the password when you arrive at vendor check-in, and you are welcome to use this to process credit cards, run demos, etc.

However, please keep in mind that while we have been guaranteed a good Internet connection by the Seattle Center, technology is not foolproof. With 150+ people potentially running transactions simultaneously, merchant interfaces such as Square are still prone to failure, so please make sure to have a backup option if you plan on accepting credit cards, such as a manual swiper!

Here are some other portable options for accepting credit cards besides Square (which we love).  You'll have to do your own research but it might be worth an hour of your time.
Signature REQUIRED

In our last newsletter, we asked you to  review your booth details  over in our Vendor Portal, to ensure that we have all the correct information we need to make the booth map, which we'll be starting on here in the next week.

Thank you to all the vendors who wrote in with any updates or errors they saw.  We have updated the original PDFs to reflect these changes, so the specs you see on the site should now be final.

Now, what we need from you, is a confirmation that you have looked this all over, so that there are no surprises day-of-show.

Please take a moment to fill out this acknowledgement form and place your virtual "signature" at the bottom (no, emailing us instead doesn't count!).  This indicates to us the following:

  • That you have reviewed your booth specs in the Vendor Portal, and all looks good

  • That you have read the fireproofing codes (see last week's newsletter), and are taking the appropriate steps to be in compliance

  • That if you have not submitted your vendor icon as of today, you waive the right to be listed on our Vendor Page for the public to view before the show.

***Your signature is required on these items by Sunday, May 10th***

That's it for now -- more next week!

High five,
- Kristen & Lindsey
