Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts - Reno

In my opinion, the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts is the best venue of its type in all of northern Nevada. Since opening in 1967, the Pioneer Center has undergone a series of upgrades and kept up with the times - this is a state-of-the-art performance theater.

The Buckminster Fuller style geodesic dome building was designed by the Oklahoma City architectural firm of Bozalis, Dickinson and Roloff. It has withstood the test of time as one of Reno's most distinctive and important buildings. It is on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts stages a variety of shows throughout the year. Some of these include holiday shows by A.V.A Ballet Theatre and the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra, both of which are Pioneer Center resident companies. A series of different shows called "Broadway Comes to Reno!" has been presented for several years. Other individual shows by local and visiting companies play throughout the year and Underground Comedy.

The Pioneer Center is located at 100 S. Virginia St. in downtown Reno.
