Traveling from Anchorage to Tokyo via Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky (PKC), Russia? Travelers must have all necessary travel documentation and visas to enter/exit Japan, the US and Russia. At the interim stop at PKC, travelers must clear Russian customs and immigrations inbound and outbound. All US citizens must have a Russian visa to transit Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Russia (PKC).

Traveling with Guns from Anchorage to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky:
- Guns should be registered with customs before departure from the US to avoid difficulties when returning.
- Guns should be packaged in TSA-approved cases.
- Ammunition should be in a locked and sealed metal container.
- Up to 10 lbs ammunition are permitted on the international flight.
- Standard baggage rules and fees apply to hunters.
- Intent to transport weapons and ammunition must be declared to the airline at the time of booking and approved by the airline.
Transporting dogs on Yakutia Airlines' Alaska-Kamchatka flights:
- Reservations for transporting dogs must be made in advance.
- All kennels must meet USDA guidelines or the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Live Animal Regulations.
- All dogs are required by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to have appropriate immunization and valid health certificates issued by a licensed veterinarian within 10 days of travel.
- Passengers are responsible for ensuring compliance with US and Russian regulations pertaining to the transportation of animals.
- Passengers with dogs traveling as checked baggage must pay a fee of $120 per dog.

AMBASSADOR KISLYAK VISITS THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST
On July 18, 2015, Sergey Kislyak, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the U.S., visited Great Falls, Montana, to participate in a ceremony highlighting Great Falls' role in the Lend-Lease program that sent nearly 8,000 aircraft to the Soviet Union to support the fight against Nazi Germany. The Bravo 369 Flight Foundation, Wargaming.Net and Rusavia teamed up to retrace the flight route from Great Falls, via Fairbanks, to Krasnoyarsk, Russia.
The events continued in Seattle where Ambassador Kislyak gave a talk at the offices of K&L Gates on the current state of US-Russia relations. The event was sponsored by the Council for US-Russia Relations.

U.S. AND RUSSIA INTRODUCE VISA-FREE TRAVEL FOR CHUKOTKA AND ALASKA
The new agreement applies to the indigenous populations of the Bering Strait region that have relatives (blood relatives, members of the same tribe, native people who have similar language and cultural heritage) in the designated area of travel.
The visa-free entry is granted for an invitation from the region for a stay of no more than 90 days. Local authorities should also be notified at least 10 days before the trip. Entry checkpoints across the state border in Alaska were set up in Nome and Gambell, while in Russia they are at Anadyr, Provideniya, Lavrentiya and Uelen. Read more...

CONFERENCE ON GLOBAL LEADERSHIP IN THE ARCTIC 30-31 August, Anchorage
The Conference on Global Leadership in the Arctic: Cooperation, Innovation, Engagement and Resilience, or GLACIER, will highlight international and domestic priorities in the Arctic. This conference will bring together Foreign Ministers of Arctic nations and key non-Arctic states with scientists, policymakers, and stakeholders from Alaska and the Arctic. Representatives of Arctic indigenous peoples will be invited to attend and encouraged to participate. Russia has been officially invited to participate in the conference.
