Turning Toward Home Concert
This Friday, December 4 at 7:00 PM in the Art Gallery

Many souls long to connect with places, beings and secrets beyond the comfortable bubbles that encompass their lives. Guitarist Dean Magraw and pianist Steven Hobert seek to open the eyes of their souls to let worlds and stars fly through them - manifesting in passionate improvised music, tender folk melodies, exuberant raw funk, and hypnotic Indian-fusion.

The seeker dances outward, touches the wonderment and returns home to rest. Again and again - breathing in, breathing out . .

Hark the Dark
Sunday, December 13 at 7:00 PM in the Art Gallery

No holly jolly here! Join Claudia Schmidt and Barbara McAfee for an improvised journey of song, poetry, community singing, and story celebrating the gifts of the dark.

The evening will unfold as an improvised musical "conversation" between singing friends.   Each of us will show up with a list of songs and poems on the theme of "the dark."   One song or poem will suggest the next.  Inspiration will run the show. And there won't be one Christmas carol, we promise!  For more information: [email protected]

An Advent Activity
Turning Toward Home

Syrian families need our help. This activity can be done once a week or every day. Please bring the coins (in a ziplock bag) to Hennepin Church on Christmas Eve for a special offering dedicated to Syrian Refugees.

Give to Dignity Center

Sandra is a 32 year old lady who was forced to live on the streets when she did not feel safe in the shelters. She was in the foster care system during her juvenile years and suffered abuse, so she ran away. Her 2 children are now in the foster care system due to the unsafe conditions in which they were living. Sandra has been working to rebuild her life and has just secured housing - a first step towards her ultimate goal of reuniting with her children as a family in their own home.

This Christmas time, please give the Dignity Center a gift card or $25 for Sandra and other Participants like her. Your gift will indeed help to "make the season bright" for them and their families. Please contact [email protected]

Kjerringsleppets, a women's book group, meets the 1st Wednesday of the month from 5:30 - 7:00 PM in the Longfellow Room and is always open to women of all ages.

The Faith of a Mockingbird
A Small Group Study Connecting Faith and Culture
Sundays, January 3, 10, 17, 24 at 5:30
led by Kathryn Johnson and Nancy Graves-Cronin

Pastor and author Matt Rawle is on a mission. He sees Christ all around him-in books, movies, TV shows, rock music-and he wants to share what he sees. As Matt says, "God offers the raw ingredients, and 'culture' is whatever we cook up."

In The Faith of a Mockingbird, based on Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird, pastor and author Matt Rawle uses Lee's beloved characters to explore Christian faith, theology, and ethics.
