Dear Friends,

Yes, on giving Tuesday, we are asking for your support.  And we are also asking you to join us over the next few weeks for a virtual year-end journey to show you the uplifting work of the farmers, ranchers, farmworkers and rural communities of our now 37 year old Rural Coalition - and how they are doing this work - together - of caring for the land and growing food and farmers.

Today, we begin in Lancaster, Massachusetts, where in July, our board member Maria Moreira, invited us for a visit to the 70 acre Flats Mentor Farm to show the farmer veteran leaders of the Desert Forge Foundation how World Farmers has helped 275 immigrant farm families build small agricultural enterprises to feed their families.  In the background of the picture above, you can see a few of the almost a dozen high tunnels (season greenhouses) the African and Hmong farmers have build with USDA support.

From there, let's head to New Mexico where the historic land grant community of Atrisco (also an RC member) has opened its arms, and land, to the farmer veterans of Desert Forge Foundation.  In September, they welcomed our Rural Coalition and National Latino Farmers and Ranchers Trade Association Assemblies to Atrisco, to taste the delicious roasted chili and see their plan for growing more farmers.  We spoke to Ivan, (See him at the end of this message roasting chili ). He shared his goal - that a farmer could grow and market enough to sustain a family and send the kids to college.

We have lots more stories to share in the coming weeks.

If you snagged deals on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, today, Giving Tuesday is your chance to support the Rural Coalition, one of the most grassroots-oriented and culturally-diverse of rural organizations.

With your support and tax-deductible donation, we are sustaining the place where our diverse and dynamic communities are working together to build a more just and sustainable food system.

Be a part of our movement.  Join us over the next few weeks for our year end journey.
