Teen Tech Week
Celebrate with the "Libraries are for Making" theme during YALSA's Teen Tech Week March 8-14, 2015.  We hope to demonstrate the value our library gives to the community by offering teens a space to extend learning beyond the classroom where they can explore, create and share content.

The making theme shows how you connect in meaningful ways in your community in order to help succeed in school and prepare for 21st century careers.  Help get the word out about this event with the hashtag #TTW15

Archives - The Three Webb Schools Exhibit
We had a great visit with The Webb Schools of Claremont and Webb School of Knoxville.  Also, we were so pleased to see Julie Webb and Susie Webb Ries.

30th Anniversary of School Library Month

The April 2015 celebration marks the 30th anniversary of School Library Month! The first national observance kicked off with a ceremony on the west steps of the U.S. Capitol on April 1, 1985, and its theme was Where Learning Never Ends: The School Library Media Center. Honoring the anniversary, the 2015 theme is Your School Library Where Learning Never Ends.
More about the history of School Library Month.

Mrs. Little writes for a national journal

Mrs. Little received an invitation to author an article for the Jan/Feb issue of Knowledge Quest.  The theme is evidence-based practice.  Knowledge Quest is the official journal of the American Association of School Librarians.

Title: Prove It! Putting together the evidence-based practice puzzle
Abstract:   Why is it important to prove that school libraries add value to the school program? The National Center for Education Statistics reports that 20 percent of U.S. public schools lack a full or part-time certified librarian (NCES 2013). In California the ratio of certified school librarians to students is 1: 7,374 (California Department of Education 2014).  Can the school library profession prove that school libraries are indispensable for a 21st-century education even though information is only a few clicks away? How can researchers and practitioners provide strong evidence to support their claims? What are the critical questions? Where is the evidence?

THANKS
Cove Norvell '73 donated a number of very fine art books in addition to the incredibly valuable Durant history set.

"The Story of Civilization", was written by husband and wife Will and Ariel Durant.  This is an eleven-volume set of books covering Western history. The library owned a well used set, and appreciated this fresh new set.

Longtime Math faculty member, Sandra Truitt, gave a donation for a poetry collection in memory of Catherine Hartman Gordon, mother of Gilbert Gordon '76 and Teresa Gordon Petersen '76.  We chose the forthcoming March 2015 collection "Maya Angelou: The Complete Poetry."

I had the best time attending conferences this year. The TASL Conference was awesome!  There, I met Sharon Draper, Vince Vawter, and Annette Laing.

We have a number of new books signed by the author in our library
