With only about a dozen ice rinks in California, we are excited that the friendly city of Fortuna in Humboldt County is building one!   We are even more excited that they plan on being film friendly! We can't wait to get our hands on some completed pictures for you!  Meanwhile, here is the scoop on the new redwood region location...

NEW LOCATION
Fortuna's Newburg Park will now be the home for the next six weeks starting December 4th this winter of a portable ice skating rink.  The portable skate rink with white tent will eventually be permanent in the next few years.
 THE RINK

This rink is the closest one within 120 mile radius in Northern California.  This outdoor rink with tent will be available for exclusive filming hours as well as filming while public attends.
PARK AMENITIES 

The tent is currently in the parking lot of Newburg Park and is surro unded by:
  • 2 regulation hardball fields
  • 2 regulation softball fields
  • 1 regulation soccer field
  • Picnic area
  • Playground
  • Public restrooms
  • All weather walking path
PARK SURROUNDINGS 

The park is located at the foothills of the Fortuna 
cliffs and backs up to e ve rgreen forest giving it a rural look.  


FILM FRIENDLY FORTUNA

Fortuna has hosted quite a few productions over the past years.

Located at the north end of Avenue of the Giants (the number one most popular film location in the redwood region), it has provided accommodations, restaurant service, and other needed vendors for many shoots.
