Anne Tkach Memorial
We are so sad to share the news that Anne Tkach, our store manager for over 7 years passed away unexpectedly on April 9th. Many of you have written or stopped by to express condolences--thank you. Anne was a rock at Local Harvest. She managed our ordering, staff and welcomed customers and vendors with a smile. Many of you have asked about services and donations. Please find information below.
Anne's Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2PM at
Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 9 S. Bompart, Webster Groves.
Her loved ones have suggested that donations can be made in her name to the places listed below.

Donations made in April and May will go to the Anne Tkach fund (name still to be determined). The fund will be used to support farmers and gardeners throughout the region who are selected for projects that preserve and expand tasty heirloom plant and heritage animal varieties. Heirloom varieties are defined as a horticultural variety that has survived for several generations and is not used in large-scale agriculture. Heritage breeds are livestock animals that are likewise no longer found in large-scale agriculture.

KNIFE SHARPENING
Local Harvest Grocery is now a drop-off and pick-up point for Jansen Sharpening. Seth and Maria Jansen, owners of Jansen Sharpening, received individualized training from a professional sharpener in Chicago and are putting it to good use! Items dropped off by 3 p.m. Wed will be ready for pick-up after 3 p.m. on Saturday. You can also get on site sharpening every Saturday at the Tower Grove Farmers? Market.

Use wood or soft plastic cutting boards instead of glass or other hard surfaces

Between uses, straighten edges with a ceramic sharpening rod

Store in a block or on a magnetic strip to prevent damage and to edge.
