Saint Francis Center Apartments at Cathedral Square approved for funding

The Saint Francis Center Apartments at Cathedral Square took a step closer to reality last week as Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) approved funding for the project. The tax credit funding will fund the majority of construction expenses, and ground breaking is tentatively scheduled for January 2016.

The Saint Francis Center Apartments at Cathedral Square will be constructed on what is now the St. John's Cathedral parking lot in the 1400 block of Colfax Avenue in Denver. St. John's Cathedral has donated the land. The apartments will provide a permanent home to 50 formerly homeless people. This is the second permanent, supportive housing development established by the Saint Francis Center. The Cornerstone Residences at St. Francis Center opened in December 2009.

Since 2012, the U.S has about 7.5 million more Americans who are no longer active in religion. We, as spiritual directors, will be seeing more people who identify as "seekers" or as "spiritual but not religious" and, in fact, we ourselves may be categorized as such. It may now be time to begin looking to the things of the 21st century.  We may need to seek the Wisdom that will enable us to read the language of technologys; and science in order to expand the meaning of the Holy, for them as well as for us.  Sponsored by Spiritual Direction Colorado.

Cost is $15 to $30, as you are able.
