The Arts: Avenue to the Divine

Led by Fr. Bob Hutmacher, OFM

 We will spend the day looking at how art - in any form - is both a share in God’s creative power and a way of touching the Holy.

Fr. Bob speaks from a distinctly Franciscan perspective, and will include fascinating history as a follower of Francis and Clare of Assisi.  A Franciscan  himself, Fr. Bob spent many years living and working in Assisi where he studied the lives of these Saints as well as the music and art of their times. He led a center for the performing arts in Chicago for many years and is a gifted musician and composer. 

Conferences and discussions will enable participants to see the power of the arts in the life of the Church, and in the lives of the faithful.  Each participant is asked to bring one piece of art (any form) that has particular significance for her or his life.  Art has the ability to bring to awareness echoes of the inner life – the deeper places that most resemble that to which we are called by God. Come and savor the homecoming!

Registration is $55 when paid by April 22; $65 thereafter, and includes lunch.  Please register by April 29. Payment in full is due prior to arrival.
