Presenter Biography
Dr. Amy Salmon has an extensive career as researcher, front line worker, and health care administrator, working in a wide variety of areas related to FASD and its prevention. She has been an invited consultant for local, provincial and federal governments, and worked with grassroots organizations to develop programs, policy recommendations, and advocacy interventions concerned with the health and well-being of marginalized mothers and their families.
Dr. Salmon is the co-editor of two books (Prevention of FASD: Who Is Responsible, 2011, Wiley-Blackwell, and Alcohol, Tobacco, and Obesity: Morality, Mortality, and the New Public Health, 2011, Routledge); and has authored over 50 journal articles, book chapters, and technical reports. Her research has been funded by the Canadian Institute for Health Research, the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, The Michael Smith Foundation, the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch, Health Canada, and the Victoria Foundation.
