It's Thanksgiving week, and that means the biggest shopping weekend of the year is about to hit. Folks will no doubt turn their attention to the shopping frenzy we've come to expect following Thanksgiving. And while most are familiar with Black Friday and Cyber Monday, these promotions largely benefit the big national stores, i.e. large businesses outside of our local economy.

This Saturday, November 28th marks the 6th annual Small Business Saturday, a day to celebrate small, local businesses and all they do for their communities. It's a day to support the businesses right here in our backyard. Shopping local supports our local economy, with an estimated $14.3 billion spent at small, independent businesses during last year's Small Business Saturday.

With that, the Lakewood Ranch Business Alliance would like to encourage all of our members to consider supporting their fellow Alliance members this holiday season.
