Imani Winds
May 6-7, 2015

Chamber Music Tulsa is pleased to present the acclaimed Imani Winds in two free concerts! The first is at All Souls Unitarian Church on Wednesday, May 6th at 7pm and the second is at Rudisill Regional Library on Thursday, May 7th at 7 pm.

More than North America's premier wind quintet (flute, oboe, clarinet, horn, and bassoon) Imani Winds has established itself as one of the most successful chamber music ensembles in the United States. Since 1997, the Grammy nominated quintet has taken a unique path, carving out a distinct presence in the classical music world with its dynamic playing, culturally poignant programming, adventurous collaborations, and inspirational outreach programs. With two member composers and a deep commitment to commissioning new work, the group is enriching the traditional wind quintet repertoire while meaningfully bridging European, American, African and Latin American traditions.

Imani Winds' commitment to education runs deep. The group participates in residencies throughout the U.S., giving master classes to thousands of students a year. In Tulsa, Imani Winds will play education concerts for all 3,000 fourth graders in the Tulsa Public Schools as part of the "Any Given Child" program.
