Does chocolate cause acne? Do any foods cause it?
There are multiple factors that cause acne. However, the link between chocolate and acne is unproven.
Most studies do not find an association, but, at least one does. What we do know, is that there is a link between foods with a high glycemic index (think some carbs!) and acne. A diet high in dairy products may also worsens acne, but this association is not as strong. Dairy products may worsen acne either because of the presence of animal hormones in milk products or due to the fact that the consumption of dairy increases some of our own hormones.
