Focus Forward - Step One: Diagnosis

James Chung, Reach Advisors

He's one of our own. A Wichita native who earned his bachelors degree and MBA from Harvard. He's James Chung, and he started his career pioneering the use of marketing analytics to help Fortune 500 companies make product decisions and investments.

An entrepreneur, James founded Reach Advisors, a strategy, research and predictive analytics firm helping clients turn challenging environments into strong outcomes.

James and his team look forward through the lens of data. Not the surface-level data used to support entrenched positions, but rather, the most comprehensive data and analytics ever deployed in the fields that they serve. That work feeds the strategy and capital allocation decisions of the businesses, nonprofits and private equity funds that rely on the work of Reach Advisors.

Given the magnitude of capital deployment and industry disruption, clients make decisions driven by data, not guesswork or how things used to be.

While James has applied this extensive process to many of the nation's leading corporations, he's also works with organizations to reshape the future of cities.

Meanwhile, James questioned what he would find if he applied this process to his hometown.

The Wichita Community Foundation has engaged James and his team to do just that in a multi-year, deep-dive process.

Companies spend billions on research and development to ensure growth. Communities rarely do R&D because of the associated costs - and quite frankly, the challenge. WCF feels that this type of work is essential for Wichita, and invested in the project. Let's learn together what the research says about our community and how we can secure future growth.

James has spent the past seven months working through step one of the process. Now he's going to share what the first round of data and analysis says, and wants to hear your thoughts.

You're invited to join the conversation at Exploration Place on Wednesday, Sept. 23 from 5-7 p.m.

James will share the data and then we'll ask questions and discuss. It will be a fast, but intense two hours.
