On Tuesday, January 27 at 7:00 PM, HC DrugFree will be partnering with Centennial High School PTSA to bring PARENTS ONLY a free informational program about current drugs available in Howard County, including concert drugs such as Molly (also known as ecstasy). Joining us will be a representative from Howard County Police Department's Narcotics Division, Street Drugs Section. Conversation will include why kids do what they do and why they self-medicate to "feel numb". The free program will be held in Centennial High School's Media Center. If HCPSS evening activities are cancelled on January 27 due to the weather, the program will be held on Thursday, January 29 at Centennial High School. Please join us!

HC DrugFree is proud to partner with the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) for their next annual Drug Facts Chat Day on Friday, January 30.

Drug Facts Chat Day is an annual live online chat held between high school students and NIDA scientists during National Drug Facts Week. Students from around the country ask the questions they most want the answers to about drugs and drug abuse, including drug effects, how to help friends or family that are abusing drugs, and what causes addiction. NIDA expert scientists give them the facts.

NIDA has provided HC DrugFree with an online access code for Howard County teens to use to communicate with the experts. From 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Friday, January 30, teens can go to www.nidachat.org and enter access code c893b to create a user name and submit valid questions to NIDA's panel of experts.

The chat event is also available to everyone in a live "read-only" format (no question submittal) through www.nidachat.org. There is no registration required to view the live chat.
