A Thought About the Magi and the
New Year

They had traveled a long way, and who knows for how long? Looking for a great king, they found a baby, son of poor refugees, resting in a manger where normally, animals would be eating. But celestially guided, they knew they were in the right place. They took their place in the story that had not previously been revealed.

In the Letter to the Ephesians, St. Paul takes up his place in the story, calling himself "less than the least of all God's holy people," declaring the light of Christ. He further declares that we can approach God "in complete confidence through our faith in him."

What better promise with which to face a new year, and to find our place in this story, than with that confidence? The Magi had faith in the star and found the Baby King in the stable.  Each Sunday we find our place at the altar in Communion with Christ and with each other. Thanks Be to God.

A Few Good Samaritans Needed

Some of you may know that there are several folks at the rehabilitation center next door to ECR, who would like to attend the 10:30 Eucharist Service regularly. That requires that someone walk over and push their wheelchair over to the church. We need more volunteers to help our ushers and others. Please see Fr. Billy Tweedie and Mr. Joe Page to assist these lovely people who want to join us in Holy Communion.
Annual Parish Reports

Those of you who have reports due for the annual meeting, and you know who you are, coming up on Jan. 17th, please e-mail your report to the church office no later than Monday, Jan. 11th. Very important that you get those reports done, and in on time.
Dine Out is Back

Dine Out survived the holidays, and is back in January with a seafood dinner for everyone who is tired of turkey and ham. It will be at Red Lobster Seafood Restaurant 109 West Anderson Lane on Saturday, January 16th at 5:30 pm.

Everyone is invited for good food and fellowship. There is a signup sheet in the Narthex, but for any questions, just ask
Mr. Joe Page at 512-459-3077. He has all the answers.
