Good Health in the Year of the Sheep!
Jan 2015
We Need Board Members!
Everyone out there, nominate yourself or an unsuspecting friend!

How makes decisions on what will be taught at the next state convention?  How keeps track of the many new and returning members and makes sure they are represented as a group when new and often very intense changes in legislation occur?  How writes the majority of these passable articles?

Volunteers! The superheros of the new paradigm!

Elections are coming up at the next state convention and we need some people to vote on.  If you are organized and interested in affecting change at a state and national level, become one of us and help the profession of massage become more amazing!

The Green Sheep
What does it mean for you?

The green sheep is wood and supports the fire element.  If you are water element, beware in the coming year, the wooden sheep will not hold you up although the complexity of your live will increase.
For the earth element, you may have a challenge at work, but you will overcome it and grow stronger.  Your life will be better for it.  Relationship opportunities are wonderful this year and will help you grow and flourish.
Wood becomes strong this year and independently moves forward.  Friends will gather around you this year to accomplish your goals.  For those among you how have metal in your sign, it might be time to flip a coin.  Good and bad move through you this year, like the complexity of the twins caught in the sky.

Seitai Shaitsu Brings Life and health
Old traditions recycled into life saving techniques.
Provided By Skip Kanester of the Center for Body Work Education.

The Kato Method of Lymphatic Shiatsu differs from most shiatsu
in that approximately 70% of this style is friction and rubbing techniques.
Developed by Kiyoshi Kato and practiced in his clinics in Osaka, Seitai, along with a regulated diet, was used successfully in the treatment of terminal cancer and degenerative disease. Kato himself was diagnosed with a terminal disease as a young man. After curing himself with traditional therapies, he dedicated his life to the treatment of disease by natural methods. A big plus for western therapists is that knowing the location of the meridians and acupoints is not necessary to learn this form of bodywork. Also, clients remain fully clothed so there is no need for oil. Traditionally Seitai was done on a futon on the floor so if the therapist is comfortable, a massage table is not even necessary, it can be done anywhere.

Seitai Shiatsu focuses on the formation and circulation of blood, balancing the body's energy and harmonizing the internal organs. Circulatory/lymphatic-type strokes and a specialized diet were at the heart of this work. In Osaka, patients would come to one of Kiyoshi Kato's clinics
and stay for approximately three weeks. During this time they would be put
on a special diet and would receive two sessions of Seitai Shiatsu daily.
The patient's family would also come to the clinics with them to learn Seitai
so that treatment could be continued after the patients left to go home.
