Winter Classic Shoot - Dec 3rd

With great warm weather, this the last shoot of 2015, drew in 74 competitors from all over Alberta and BC. We also had a record number of 10 female competitors ! 
The High Over All winner was Corey McConnel with a 91/100, pictured on the right with owner Gwen Day.

Thank you to all the participants who came out and helped finish of this years 17th competition with such a bang !

Silver Willow's annual Christmas toy drive was the best ever ! More then 500 toys were donated with an estimate of $8,000.00 value and $800.00 in cash. The toys all went to the local Lions Club Christmas food hampers and the Cremona area, Santas Anonymous organizations. The $800.00 cash was give to the Carstairs Youth Drop In Center, for their annual Christmas party gifts.

Silver Willow is considering a couple new events this year.

1.  A "Shoot with the Pro's" events. We would invite some of Alberta's top shooters and instructors to participate in a casual shooting evening about once a month. Working on a RSVP basis, the evenings would include food and shooting for those who wish to simply shoot along side some of Canada's best. We would like to use this event as a fundraiser for an outreach program in 2017. The outreach program will see staff, family and friends of SW travel to Guatemala to serve in a Mayan village. Watch for more details, and please feel free to give us your suggestions / feedback.

2. A Couples League night is another idea being considered. If your interested in such an evening event each week, please contact us and we will gauge the interest in order to assess how to proceed.

Fairwell
Doug Harvey passed away on Dec 27th 2015. Doug was a passionate shotgun shooting enthusiast all his life. Once he took up sporting clays, he was hooked. He volunteered on the Alberta Sporting Clays Association for 11 years in several positions including secretary, statistics and president. Doug helped form the Canadian Sporting Clays association in 2010.  Doug and his wife Beth enjoyed many years of traveling to shoots across Canada and the US as well as several international shoots. They loved the time spent socializing and shooting with their "sporting clays family". At his Celebration of Life last Wednesday, it was shared that his baseball coach taught him a key lesson that he carried with him all his life...."plan, work hard, focus and win!" A sentiment that Doug no doubt shared with his grandson Dexter (pictured on the right). Spending time with Dexter shooting, ever since he was very young, here at Silver Willow was a highlight in Doug's later years. Doug was a well loved coach to a couple of today's Alberta top young sporting clays shooters including Eric Alexander and Hunter Brewster. The sporting clays family, will miss such dedicated volunteer and top competitor.

2. Discounts on clay targets - Members save a maximum of 32.00/100 clays. Once you shoot 780 clays in a year, your membership is paid for by the savings

Private and semi private lessons are available at $100.00 per hour for one person or $110 per hour for two people. Gun rental, ammo and clays are extra. A minimum of 1.5 hours per lesson is recommended. Check out our website page under Instruction for all the details.
