Verona Chamber Newsletter

January 2016

I hope your New Year is starting off with a bang! We have hit the ground running in 2016. Membership dues notices have been mailed. We are in the process of updating our membership database software to make it more user friendly to members. You will be able to log in and update your own information, if you choose to do so. You will be able to promote your events on our website calendar. And, you will be able to register for all events in one place, as well as sign up to work on a committee or an event.

So be sure to return your dues notice and make sure we have the most up-to-date information for you. This is the information we will be using for the printed Directory. And, you won't want to be left out!

I am putting together several groups to assist with Chamber business, update the offices and market Verona and our local businesses. Right now, I am specifically looking for people with a passion or expertise in remodeling/interior decorating; and, those with a background in marketing and/or advertising, but if one of these isn't your cup of tea then consider volunteering for any of our other committees or events.
Other volunteer opportunities are Ambassadors, Annual Meeting, Business/Education, Economic Development, Golf Outing, Hometown Days, Lunch & Learn, Marketing/Promotion, Music Festival, Networking Lunches, Newsletter, Retail & Restaurant, Tourism, Website or General Volunteering (where needed).

Finally, we are beginning our sponsorship efforts too. If you know of a business or organization that would be a great sponsor for the Chamber or one of our events, please forward their contact information to me!
As always, if you have any ideas or comments to share please email me - [email protected] or call me - (608) 845-5777.

Note from the Chamber:

Our executive assistant Molly will out of the office from Jan. 11 - January 22 for her wedding and honeymoon! If you need to contact the chamber during that time, please send your requests/concerns/etc...to Le directly at  [email protected].
Networking Lunch
January 13 | 12pm

The first Networking Lunch of the year is set for Wednesday, January 13 at noon at Gray's Tied House in Verona.

In the past, the Networking Lunches consisted primarily of networking and the introduction of new attendees. We are going to try something new this year.  At most lunches we will add a very brief presentation / update (approx. 10 min) on issues or topics that are of interest to area businesses. Some proposed topics for future luncheons include the Verona Road Construction and impact to businesses, Verona becoming a Dementia Friendly Community, Verona Young Professionals, and Room Tax Changes. Many of these topics will be part of our Lunch and Learn series too but in much greater depth at those gatherings than at the Networking Lunches. If you have a topic that you would like an update on please send your idea to me - [email protected]. The cost of the meal is $10.

So bring some business cards to exchange, a name badge if you have one, and enjoy the lunch. Please RSVP by emailing  [email protected] or calling 845-5777.

Phat Pack
Presented by the Verona Area Performing Arts Series
Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016 | 7:30pm
VAHS Performing Arts Center

The PHAT PACK are three excellent performers who have been on Broadway, as well as on National Tours, and now work as a group in Las Vegas. They all met while doing the National tour of Les Miserables. Ted Keegan played the role of the Phantom on Broadway and later on the National Tour; Randal Keith played Valjean in Les Miserables on Broadway and National Tour; and Bruce Ewing played Jinx in Forever Plaid on the National Tour and in Las Vegas. They opened as the Phat Pack in 2012 at the Plaza Hotel in Las Vegas, and then moved uptown to the Bally's Hotel and Casino. In addition to singing the great songs of Broadway, American Standards, along with some hilarious new music of their own,  they share stories of their lives and careers.
