Jeff's Take

St. Joe CEO Program

I had an opportunity this week to meet the students in the inaugural class of the St. Joe CEO program. The program has welcomed students from the Penn-Harris-Madison, School City of Mishawaka, John Glenn School corporations, as well as the Career Academy, Marian and Saint Joseph high schools. It seeks to prepare students to be responsible, enterprising individuals who become entrepreneurs or entrepreneurial thinkers and contribute to economic development and sustainable communities.

Regional Cities Application Submitted: Goal Within Reach

INNOVATE INDIANA, the Regional Development Plan, created by the Regional Cities of Northern Indiana, was submitted to the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) last month. The Northern Indiana Region, comprised of St. Joseph, Elkhart and Marshall counties, is vying against six other Indiana regions for $42 million in state funding for transformative, economic development projects. This is just one step in the process, which also includes presentations and tours. The final decision will be made in December.

Advertise in Visitors Guide

If your business is involved in hospitality and you want to reach visiting publics to our region, consider advertising in the 2016 Visitors Guide, produced by Visit South Bend Mishawka. The guides showcase all of the great things to see and do in the South Bend Region. River Lights Dedication is Friday

South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg will hold a ribbon-cutting event at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 4 to officially dedicate River Lights Plaza, just north of Seitz Park along the east bank of the St. Joseph River. Residents purchased customized, commemorative bricks to support the yearlong South Bend 150 festivities. Other brick pavers and limestone squares in the plaza will recognize corporate sponsors of SB150.

ENGAGE Your Executive Employees

It’s important to keep top-level executive talent, and one way to do this is to get that talent immersed in the community. While Leadership South Bend/Mishawaka offers their nine-month Signature program, if that schedule does not work for your executives new to the community, we suggest the one-day, October 22 ENGAGE program.
