Welcome, Lindsay Sparks!
Please welcome Lindsay Sparks, CAN Development Director. Lindsay was born in Owasso, Okla., but considers herself a Tulsan. She has lived in Sapulpa, Moore, Norman and Stillwater. When in Stillwater, she attended and graduated from Oklahoma State University - Go Pokes!

Development work and donor cultivation have been an integral part of her professional career for over 11 years now. She's also worked in both local and state government.

In her spare time, Lindsay loves spending time with her sweet dog named Pickle and her six-year-old daughter. She also loves reading and traveling.

When asked why she is looking forward to working at CAN, she said, "First of all, I love kids and helping kids is something I believe in. Secondly, I'm excited to work for a place where the programmatic work is more focused."

Lindsay continued to say, "I'm just happy to be here and to have the opportunity to help kids on such a large scale. I'm already impressed with all of the Center staff and the manner in which they handle the difficult, yet essential, work being done here."

Amy Howard Gives Presentation at OU-Tulsa

On July 14, Child Specialist Amy Howard spoke to a group of students in the Early Childhood Development Class at OU-Tulsa.  The course was titled Schools in American Culture and there were 13 students and one instructor in attendance.  The presentation included information about reporting abuse and neglect, as well as, signs and symptoms to be aware of.

Not only did the group have great questions, but Ms. Howard has also received follow-up emails with questions.  The instructor for this course, Mr. Surbaugh, has invited a child specialist to speak for his summer course for several years now.  Mr. Surbaugh noted that this is an important topic for future educators and he will continue to have CAN come visit in the future.
