Howard County teens are saying:
"Rich, poor, black, white. It makes no difference. This disease brings us to our knees."
"If you start as a weekend user of marijuana or a weekend drinker, it always leads to more."
"When I was 13, if I had said to my parents that someone offered me drugs and I don't know how you feel about it, but let's talk, my life would probably be different."
"I feel good about my recovery because I can help people. I can give others at least 150 reasons not to use."

KNOW how much we appreciate YOU! |
We began this month with the Howard County Council and the County Executive jointly proclaiming March as HC DrugFree's Alcohol and Drug Abuse Awareness Month in Howard County. Throughout the month HC DrugFree has provided free valuable information in our newsletters and at our two Senior Week in Ocean City programs.
I thank the hundreds of parents and teens that attended the two Senior Week in Ocean City programs in March and the one in February. I trust the information will help keep Howard County teens safer if they participate in Senior Week in Ocean City or elsewhere. Encourage your children to remember the words of Officer Howard Caplan from the Ocean City Police Department, "Please don't go to OC on vacation and come home on probation."
Also, I thank you for submitting questions, quotes, and article ideas as well as providing feedback on the newsletter. I enjoy hearing from you so feel free to keep contacting me. We will do our best to get answers to all your questions.
As we head into prom season and then graduations, we look forward to working with the PTSAs/PTAs, schools, and the community to keep our youth safe by staying drug and alcohol free.
