UPDATE RE: BRANCH HILL-GUINEA

DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS

Road Has Reopened; Safety Work Continues

The Clermont County Engineer's Office announced last week that Branch Hill-Guinea Road from Branch Hill-Miamiville to Branch Hill-Loveland has reopened.

Crews are still working on the replacement of an underground stormwater pipe though, so weather permitting, work will continue during the day and traffic will be reduced to one lane for the next several weeks. Flaggers will be used to maintain traffic, and the road will be fully-opened in both directions during non-construction hours.

Clermont County Engineer Pat Manger said that the Branch Hill-Guinea Drainage Improvements are a significant safety improvement and an important component of upgrading the infrastructure in this area. He also expressed his appreciation for the cooperation of surrounding communities during the previous road closure and related detour. "This was a critical repair that warranted immediate attention," said Manger. "Our crews worked as quickly and efficiently as possible so as to reopen the road to traffic as soon as possible. We were not willing to risk the safety of the residents of this area by delaying this repair, but we appreciate the patience and cooperation of everyone who was affected by the detour."

The Branch Hill-Guinea Drainage Improvements will provide an updated drainage system that will not only serve to move water more efficiently away from the roadway but will also eliminate the sharp drops and deep ditches along the roadside. In addition, Branch Hill-Guinea will be widened between Branch Hill-Miamiville and Branch Hill-Loveland Road, and paved shoulders will be installed to improve safety for all traffic traveling through this portion of Branch Hill-Guinea Road.
