After years of planning and securing the funding, the Nicollet Mall renovation has finally begun. What will this $50M project entail and how will construction advance along the corridor? These questions and others will be addressed by Minneapolis Downtown Council President, Steve Cramer, and by Director of Community Planning and Economic Development for the City, David Frank. In addition, the meeting will also feature a presentation by Win Rockwell who was recently named the Executive Director of Green Minneapolis (GM). A new organization created by the Downtown Council, GM has a bold mission and while the new Nicollet Mall is at the center of it, Win will be engaged in projects and planning across downtown. 4th Street Pipeline Construction
CenterPoint Energy has a large pipeline construction project taking place along 4th Street between 2nd Ave North and Marquette Ave with the week of September 8th as the estimated start date. This will significantly impact traffic during the construction period which is anticipated to last 10 weeks.

EMERGE Community Development/
Project for Pride in Living
EMERGE Community Development, Momentum Enterprises and Project for Pride in Living (PPL), three Twin Cities non-profits, have mutually agreed to merge Momentum's operations with EMERGE, effective August 1st, 2015. The new entity brings together Momentum's three social enterprise businesses that create jobs for low-income adult trainees and EMERGE's broad range of employment and training programs. The merged entity will have projected revenues of about $8.2 million. Its 65 professionals will serve more than 3000 people annually in Minneapolis and St. Paul. The move will also enable PPL to focus on its own distinctive mission in job training and housing programs. Additionally, EMERGE won the IKEA Challenge and was awarded a $10,000 room makeover for their youth room at the Camden Apartment Building. The room was totally transformed and provides a bright welcoming space for EMERGE children & youth to work & play.
Comcast
Comcast announced Troy Lupe as the company's new Vice President of Field Operations for the Twin Cities Region. In his new role, Lupe will oversee a team of nearly 600 employees in the company's technical operations and communication operations groups, serving more than 600,000 customers in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Missouri and Kansas. Lupe joined Comcast in June 2014 as Director of Technical Operations.
Military Times "Best for Vets: Employers 2015 list"
Two Chamber member businesses are among the country's best places for veterans to work: U.S. Bank and Xcel Energy. The questions in the new service's survey were aimed at finding out whether each company's culture, hiring practices and policies are friendly to America's veterans. Not all businesses which responded were included on the list. Both companies were on last year's list.
Doherty Employment Group is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year having been founded in April 1980 by Timothy Doherty. In 1982, Doherty installed its first computer system, making it one of the first organizations in the industry to take advantage of technology for candidate search and retrieval. In 1985, Inc. Magazine named the business as one of the 500 Fastest-Growing Private Companies in the United States.
