We Never Forget You Drive Our Success
This was a big event week for the Chamber. On Monday, the BCC hosted our Annual Golf Tournament. It was sold out and the energy at dinner was outstanding. The Golf Committee did its work well and the staff was equally prepared, but it is the participation by you, our members that insures success. This particular event provides most of the money for our Bloomington Future Leaders Scholarship program, so it was quite gratifying to see such robust bidding on our silent auction items.
Also, we are grateful that a record number of you chose to make the golf event part of your marketing plan through sponsorship this year. Thank you, members, for partnering with us on this.
Tuesday found the staff and over 150 volunteers in Northeast Minneapolis for the 86th Annual Celebrate Northeast Parade. This community event hosted by the chamber is a significant undertaking and we thank our sponsors as well as our partners at the City of Minneapolis and particularly the Second Precinct of the Minneapolis Police Department for their support. I want to highlight the work of BCC President Maureen Scallen Failor for leadership on the golf event and NEMCC President Christine Levens for once again bringing the NE Parade to life.
While these are among the biggest events we produce, this Chamber is proud to offer more than 150 activities each year. However, the only reason we create all these gatherings is for you. Remember, the essence of our mission is to grow jobs. One of the ways we do that is by providing opportunities for members to connect with each other through seminars, access to public officials, the chance to hear great speakers on relevant topics or simply to gather and be entertained.
This year you are engaging in record numbers and that participation helps everyone. Thank you for supporting our work and if you have not been among the throngs attending our activities this year, there is no time like the present. Whether you wish to attend Bloomington Chamber events, the Northeast Chamber or the ones we host at the MRCC, we have plenty to offer you including the chance to grow your enterprise.
Here are upcoming opportunities from each of our Chambers. Please join us. June 24 | Northeast Networking Night: NorthGate Brewing July 28 | Business Before Hours event at Fairview Southdale Aug 6 | DRIVE Social: Young Professional Night at the Saints!
Enjoy the Summer.

Chamber member Companies to Classrooms was one of the non-profits selected to receive the new website design.
University of Minnesota
The National Institutes of Health awarded $3 million to the University of Minnesota to ramp up commercialization of health care technologies, becoming one of three new Research Evaluation and Commercialization Hubs (REACH) nationwide. The funding, plus $3 million in matching dollars from the university, will go toward training researchers, partnerships with businesses and other initiatives. The grant will support between 10 and 20 commercialization projects per year centered around areas such as diagnostics tools, medical devices and preventative medicine.
Junior Achievement of the Upper Midwest (JAUM)
The 2015 JAUM Company of the Year team from Mounds View High School was selected to represent the Upper Midwest at the JA National Student Leadership Summit in Washington, DC in June The students qualified for the national competition after placing first in the regional competition. Only 15 high school teams from across the country received this honor. Also, Junior Achievement and the Minneapolis Public Schools partnered to offer Spring Break Academy again this year. Nearly 150 K-8th grade students at Anishinabe Academy learned about being responsible workers, consumers and citizens through JA's experiential programs. The school district partnered with JA in its efforts to reduce the learning gap and accelerate academic outcomes for underserved students. |

Got the Urge to Network? ConnectForLunch Dramatically Updated
Our ConnectForLunch program has just been dramatically updated. Instead of the current version, which offered only one day each week, the new version will now be available three days every week: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 52 weeks a year.
And there's more improvements. Lots more:
- You'll have more choices: Now you can choose which restaurant you'd like to go to, instead of being assigned to a particular restaurant by the software. French cuisine? Italian? Vegetarian? A restaurant that's close by? The choice is yours.
- And more choices: You can choose to meet new contacts, renew contacts with businesspeople you've met before, or both. Just pick the group you'd like to join... or start your own group.
- And more flexibility: Instead of the current twice-a-month subscription which restricted you to only two lunches a month, you'll be able to buy packets of five, ten or twenty lunches which can be used at any time. Any unused lunches are fully refundable within six months after purchase.
- And even more flexibility: Have an opening in your schedule? No more waiting until next week to go to lunch: you can go to lunch as early as the next day.
