This course will invite students to take part in the ongoing scholarly conversation surrounding revision, and to examine the revision processes of writers at various levels of skill. Responding to the recent economic reforms know as "neoliberalism," individuals and communities in the Andean region of South America claim ownership of an indigenous past by asserting continuity with Inca and other pre-columbian culture and demanding rights over important archaeological sites and artifacts. This class will Skype with guest speakers from Peru and is helpful in better understanding study abroad experiences in South America.

Soc 489:

Organizing: People, Power, and Change

Many students want to understand the roots of social problems, and they value this knowledge, at least in part, because they believe that it can help them to become more effective in addressing these problems. Students in this course will intern for 10 hours each week with a Southeast Michigan nonprofit. Learn more here.
