Q. Why did you choose to be an Optometrist?
A. Our eyes are our connection to the world and I thought that was a really cool thing growing up. Anyone who was blind really interested me, and I would always ask my parents what they saw and how they lived. I knew I really liked the eyes and vision, so when it was time to choose what to do with my life, becoming an Optometrist was at the top of my list.
Q. What is something that amazes you?
A. The eyes amaze me: how perfect they actually are. [Laughter] I guess that's a terrible thing for an Optometrist to say! They are perfectly developed; how small the components are and perfectly coordinated everything needs to be to actually see well.
Q. How do you spend your free time?
A. I spend a lot of my free time either playing guitar or staying active outdoors: jogging, playing sports - tennis, disc golf.
Q. What book are you currently reading?
A.
Looking for Alaska
Q. Where are we most likely to see you outside of the office?
A. At a comedy club...I've heard good things about Joey's.
Q. What do you most enjoy about living in Michigan, your native state?
A. I really enjoy how mild the summers are and that they're not humid!
Q
. What is a skill you would like to learn and why?
A. I would actually like to learn to fly, to be a pilot. I don't really like driving long distances; so if I could fly those distances myself, I could cut down on the time.
Q. What do you want to be known for?
A. That's a good question. I want to be known for being a good person.
