Hammer Out Hunger!

At this time of year, we often start planning for the holidays with good food and family. However, it is also a time for us to reflect on our many blessings. There are numerous people in Cherokee County that are homeless or do not have sufficient food or clothing that we (Reinhardt University) can help.

Students, faculty and staff recently participated in BUS 290s Corporate Social Responsibility "Hammer Out Hunger" Car Smash Fundraiser, benefitting the "Least of These Ministries' Waleska Food Pantry." Participants paid $1 for three swings at the truck.

The class will also offer other donation drives and fundraising intiatives in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for more information!

It's On Us

Every college student is faced with the challenge of being mindful of their surroundings in a fast-paced, high-sensory and often-emotional environment, and the threat of sexual assault is a concern.

The staff Division of Student Affairs along with a new formed peer advocacy student organization, CARE (Compassion, Advocacy, Respect and Education), is joining the "It's On Us" campaign this week in effort to ensure that Reinhardt remains a safe space.

Starting yesterday and through Nov. 14, students, faculty and staff are encouraged to sign a pledge statement to make a commitment to help keep women and men safe from sexual assault.

Visit Reinhardt's Title IX webpage at www.reinhardt.edu/titleix to view a video, take the pledge and read tips on looking out for friends and taking action in difficult situations.

Lady Eagles Advance in AAC Championship

A free kick goal by Allie Hale in the 67th minute was followed by a Madie Easterwood goal just 24 seconds later, giving Reinhardt's women's soccer team more than enough to get by Bryan, 3-0, in the Appalachian Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Championship quarterfinal round.

After a scoreless first half, the Lady Eagles finally got on the board in the 67th minute. After Hale was fouled just outside the box, the junior stepped up for a free kick from 19 yards away. Even with a five-person wall in front of her, Hale was able to curl a shot into the back corner of the net to give the Lady Eagles a 1-0 advantage.

Eagles Fall in NAIA Game of the Week

Niagel Curtis ran for five touchdowns, but a scoreless third quarter for No. 7 Reinhardt proved to be the undoing of the Eagles as No. 17 Campbellsville rallied to win, 70-56, in Mid-South Conference West Division action in Campbellsville, Ky., Saturday.

The win gives MSC-West championship to Campbellsville (8-2, 5-0), with RU (8-1, 3-1) now facing a must-win situation next Saturday at Ken White Field to earn a bid to the NAIA Football Championship Series.

Lady Eagles Finish Strong at AAC Meet

Reinhardt's women's cross country team came home in eighth out of 11 schools at the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championship Meet Saturday morning in Knoxville, Tenn.

"Our women were able to compete well in terrible conditions that made the course extremely slow by the time they ran," said RU head cross country coach Jordan Turner. "The ladies put themselves in the position to have a better finish than last year but injuries derailed us a bit at the end."
