Reinhardt Highlights during Annual Conference for NGCUMC
 
Mallard Blessed by Prayer

Reinhardt administrators and staff helped publicize Reinhardt during the 2015 Annual Conference for the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church in Athens, Ga., last week. Bishop B. Michael Watson led the conference in prayer for Reinhardt's new president Dr. Kina Mallard.

Almost 100 Reinhardt alumni, along with friends and future students, like Ariel and Marybeth (pictured below), attended a BBQ dinner hosted by the University to introduce President Dr. Kina Mallard.

 


 

Mallard Gives Keynote Speech at Laity Luncheon

Dr.  Mallard also had the opportunity to give the keynote address at the Laity Luncheon during Annual Conference. Approximately 775 United Methodist church members from across North Georgia were in attendance. She also submitted her talk for publication in the conference journal.

Students Take the Stage at Annual Conference
  

Alex Mahan '15 presented on "Imagine No Malaria," a project she and her peers supported through the McCamish School of Business at Reinhardt. The class was led by Dr. Dana Hall, an assistant professor of business at Reinhardt and a member of Canton FUMC. 

Their class' goal was to: Raise awareness and raise $1,000. The students gained real world experience and in the process, helped save 116 lives. For more on this, check the website later this week.

 

Keren Morales, an upcoming sophomore and Common Ground worship leader at Reinhardt, was a part of the worship band for Annual Conference. 
 
 
 

Reinhardt's participation in activities at Annual Conference were wonderful opportunities to "get our name out there." 

  

Cherokee Retired Educators Association Donates Scholarship Funds for Future Educators

Teachers of the past help teachers of the future! The Cherokee Retired Educators Association presented Reinhardt with a $2,000 check to provide scholarships for students majoring in education. Dr. Kina Mallard, Reinhardt president (center), accepted the generous donation from Marlene Harrington, CREA president, along with Karen Hawley (from right), president-elect; Kathy Brown, membership officer; and Jean Cantrell, treasurer. 

Leaving Dynasty in Place, Glen Crawford Steps Down as Softball Coach

After eight years with the program and six conference championships, Reinhardt University Athletics has announced that Glen Crawford is stepping down as head softball coach as of July 1, 2015.

 

"The gratitude and thanks that I have in [RU Athletic Director] Coach [Bill] Popp can't be measured," Crawford said.

Future Eagles "SOAR" at Reinhardt's Orientation Weekends

"One of my favorite parts about orientation is breaking off into our 'O-groups,'" said Katie Purcell '17, orientation leader. "I like being able to get to know everyone through our ice breakers. The ice breakers help the group make connections and friends. It also helps the leaders get to know each student. Since the students are in their O-group for most of the day, it helps them get a better feel for the campus and also bond with the group.
Faculty Honored for Dedication to Reinhardt

At the final Faculty Senate meeting of the academic year, University administrators underscored the crucial role that faculty play in making Reinhardt a true community of challenge and care. Among the outstanding faculty honored at the meeting were Dr. Matthew M. Anderson, Dr. Paula-Thomas Lee, James "Jym" B. Davis, Robin C. McNally, and Joseph W. Mullins '02, and Dr. Catherine B. Emanuel was recognized during Honor's Day.
