Announcing WPH new projects for 2015-16!
In consultation with the business, labour, and education and employment services community WPH has developed four core projects to address identified workforce development priorities and concentrate our efforts on in the upcoming year. Mandated by the Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities to complete four projects on a yearly basis, WPH also engages in many other labour market development projects and partnerships in our community. Below you will find a brief summary of our key projects.

Hire Learning Survey/Employer One: WPH will be continuing our annual survey of employers of all sizes and sectors in Hamilton to learn about their retention and training issues.
Tools and Resources for the Promotion of Training in Hamilton: WPH will research the return on investment for manufacturing employers to provide training and development for their workers.
Soft Skills Development Research: Soft and job foundation skills will be defined and an event will be hosted for the employment and training network to highlight key findings of the research.
Youth Employment Engagement Strategy: A communication and outreach strategy for youth in Hamilton will be developed to better engage youth with employment services.
Hamilton creating "blue ribbon panel" to examine skills shortage in city
Hamilton Mayor Fred Eisenberger says the city's Economic Development Department is creating a "blue ribbon panel" that will examine the skills training shortage that is making it difficult for industries to hire people.
"There is a real interest in addressing the skills shortage that all advanced manufacturers is facing," said Eisenberger.
