Welcome, Jenny Remy!
Please welcome Jenny Remy, Child Welfare Specialist with the Oklahoma Department of Human Services. Jenny was born and raised in Bixby, Okla., and she graduated from the University of Tulsa with a double major in Women's Gender Studies and Communication.

Jenny has been in the field of social work since she graduated just a year ago. She always dreamed of being a social worker and helping the families of Tulsa, however, she lost sight of that goal during college and was taking a different path until about two months prior to graduation. She accepted the job with DHS right out of college and says, "it was the best decision I have ever made."

In her spare time, Jenny loves running and is currently training for her second full marathon. She finds running to be a great stress relief.

On June 27, Jenny will be getting married. She and her fiance plan to foster children within the next few years after they settle into married life.

When asked why she is looking forward to working at the Center, she said, " I enjoy the multidisciplinary team being in the same building to support and assist one another and the ability to learn by observation." She continued with, " I also enjoy the diversities of the personalities that we have at the Children's Advocacy Center, as well as the comradery that everyone provides."

Around 40 Visitors Tour the Center
On Friday, May 15, Rose Turner and Melissa Gantz gave tours of the Center to around 40 individuals participating in the Child Protection System Orientation Tour (coordinated by the Child Protection Coalition - lead by Lynn Sossamon and Pat Atkinson).

The tour begins at the Center and participants learn about the Multidisciplinary Team and the Child Abuse Network. Then, they depart on a bus and visit Youth Services and the Tulsa County Juvenile Court.

Anniversary Celebration for Rose

We had a great time celebrating Rose Turner's 10th Anniversary with CAN on May 12. Staff gathered in the conference room of the Center and some special guests showed up to surprise Rose. Congratulations, Rose! You are an inspiration to so many of us!

"...With a Little Help from Our Friends."
Corporal Greg Smith and Shelia Minor-Johnson, CAN's Child Family Advocate
On Wednesday, May 13, Corporal Greg Smith delivered a matching pillow and blanket set that was handmade and donated by 4th grade students who attend an after-school activity at Trinity United Methodist Church.

The students gather after school and make crafts that they can donate to those in need in the community.

We are so grateful to these sweet 4th grade students!
