Many families have to stretch their food budgets further during summer break, but thanks to a statewide collaboration, there are free, healthy summer meals available to Colorado kids and teens at fun, safe sites. More than 530 community sites across the state -- from churches and schools to libraries and recreation centers -- offer breakfast, lunches and/or snacks at no cost to those 18 years old and younger. The Summer Food Service Program, funded by the USDA, fills the nutritional gap during the summer months when so many Colorado kids lose access to school meals. Spread the word! Colorado families can find nearby summer food sites by calling the statewide, bilingual Hunger Free Hotline toll-free at (855) 855-4626 or by using the interactive map at KidsFoodFinder.org.
