Did you know that expressing gratitude is good for your brain?  This Sunday we will be treating our brains with a lot of gratitude with readings, reflections, poems and prayers.  Please come with your gratitudes and blessings.

CHRISTMAS IS AROUND THE CORNER...WE NEED HELP!

We hope to once again celebrate Christmas Eve at the Church of the Holy City in D.C. AND we need your help.

If you can help with sound and music please contact Rev. Julia ASAP.

Sunday's Adult Group:
"What I've Learned with Sue Katz Miller

This Sunday we are so pleased to have our own Sue Katz Miller share what she has learned this year on the road with her inspiring book "Being Both: Embracing Two Religions in One Interfaith Family".  The book is now available in hard-cover, paperback and e-book.  Sue has been featured in many popular media outlets including the New York TimesTimeUtne ReaderSalonSlate, the Dish, NPR's Diane Rehm Show, NPR's Here & Now, and many other media outlets.  Please join us and bring friends!

She'll also be selling and signing books at IFFP on Sunday, so bring your checkbooks!

IFFP YOGA - Come Stretch, Strengthen, & Connect|

11 am -12 pm in the Dance Studio:

Fall 2014 Dates: 11/23, 12/7, 12/14

Join fellow IFFP members for a fun, laid-back yoga class that's appropriate for absolute beginners (really!) as well as experienced yogis.  You'll stretch and strengthen your body, calm your mind, and come away clear-eyed to start the week.

Janice Simsohn Shaw has taught yoga since 2001 and teaches a flowing form, drawing from a number of different yoga traditions and styles.  Longtime fabulous IFFP member Carol Muskin, also a yoga teacher, will occasionally substitute.

Classes are $15/each -- please sign up with Miranda for 4 or 5 classes.  Drop-in students also welcome, but registration through IFFP is strongly encouraged to ensure we have critical mass to rent the room and pay the teachers!

Have a child in K thru 6th grade?

Have you hired your children to do the household jobs you don't have time for? Who knows, they might actually enjoy doing the chores you dislike most! IFFP kids in grades K through 6th are encouraged to do extra chores (above and beyond their usual jobs) for you and for friends and neighbors, to earn money that will be used to purchase new cleaning equipment and supplies for Miriam's House, part of N Street Village.

Here are the things on their wish list:

  • All purpose cleaners: Lysol All-Purpose Cleaner, Clorox Kitchen and Bath Clean-up, and Fantastic
  • Mops
  • Oven cleaner
  • Dishwashing liquid
  • Laundry Detergent
  • Paper towels
  • Vacuum cleaner
  • Brooms
  • Dust pans
  • Dust Buster
  • Dusters
  • Swiffer duster refills
  • Clorox wipes
  • Lysol wipes
  • Towels (New)

As we've done in past years, we'll keep track of the kids' earnings by grade. I will collect money at the Sunday School table on Nov. 23 and Dec. 7. Let's see how much money your children can raise in the next three weeks!

Here is info about N Street Village: http://www.nstreetvillage.org/about/

Do your kids need more job sign-up sheets and/or fliers to give their neighbors? Email me and I'll send them to you. I'll also have them at the Sunday School table.

Collecting Toiletries for
Springvale Terrace Assisted Living

We will be collecting donations in the rear of the cafeteria during each Gathering from now until December.

We have many bags to fill.  There are about 130 residents at Springvale Terrace.

Toiletry donation ideas: toothpaste, toothbrush, mouthwash, hand cream, emory boards, shampoo, conditioner, combs, deodorant, moisturizer, chap stick, socks, tissues, shaving cream, disposable razors, soap, etc.   We accept travel size and full size items.  In addition, if you have any extra holiday greeting cards, we will use them for each resident.

We also like to include a fun gift like: deck of cards, candy canes, nail polish, pen/pencil, journals, perfume, lipstick, stationery.

If you have questions, contact Diane Katz at [email protected]
