July Means: Irrigation!

Help to improve the health and appearance of your lawn by considering an irrigation system. With regular irrigation at just the right levels, your lawn will respond with vigorous and healthy growth which will also add to the value of your property.

The Zacheretti Project

The Zacheretti home was a new construction that seemed incomplete without the proper landscaping to bring it all together. The home is located on a slope on top of a lake so our primary focus was to enhance and maximize the front and backyard using its natural surroundings.

Why Irrigate?
by Steve Polte

We all learned that plants need sunlight, soil/nutrients, air, and you guessed it, WATER to live and grow. Even in East TN where our typical annual rainfall is around 48 inches, which is 10 more inches than Seattle, WA, we have periods of very dry weather.
Did you know that it's best to water your lawn between 6-10AM? The earlier in the day it is, the less wind and sun there will be and your lawn has the rest of the day to dry!

Make a Memory, Plant a Tree!
by Paul Dickinson

No East Tennessee landscape is complete without mature, well-placed, and well-maintained trees. Trees are an integral part of our lives: An adult's childhood memories often revolve around sitting under, climbing into, swinging from, or otherwise enjoying the trees in their yards or neighborhoods.
July Gardening Tips:
  • Water your lawn 2-3 times a week instead of a little bit everyday.
  • Be sure you are mowing your lawn at an appropriate height to reduce water loss.
  • Water your plants several hours before applying pesticides.
  • Check the moisture of potted plants because some may need to be watered twice a day as the temperature rises.
Urban Wilderness Adventure Park
Legacy Parks Foundation

Last month, we announced that we are proudly partnering with Legacy Parks to design and install an adventure park located across the street from South Doyle Middle School. We'll keep you updated on the progress of this project here in our monthly newsletters! The latest good news is that Legacy Parks was awarded $10,000 by REI to build a bridge connecting trails in Knoxville's Urban Wilderness. The bridge will cross Red Bud Road and connect the new Wood property to the greater Urban Wilderness South Loop trail system.
