City of Westland Begins Central City Parkway Road Repairs
Road Work

Westland, MI -
The City of Westland will be executing a pavement repairs project along Central City Parkway between Warren Rd and Wayne Rd.  Access will be maintained at all times for all traffic including emergency vehicles to all of the businesses throughout the project.  Traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction, with intermittent stoppages of traffic during certain construction activities by flagmen.

This project will be broken down into 3 phases.  Phase 1 has a tentative start date of April 13, 2015 and a tentative completion date of May 22, 2015.  During this phase, the outside lanes of Central City Parkway will be closed to traffic to perform concrete removal and replacement.  The inside lanes and center turn lane will remain open.  Once repairs are complete, traffic will be moved onto the outside lanes.  At least one access to each property will remain open at all times.

Phase 2 has a tentative start date of May 23, 2015 and a tentative completion date of June 26, 2015.  During Phase 2 the inside lanes and center turn lane will be closed to traffic.  The outside lanes will remain open and at least one access to each property will remain open at all times.

The third and final phase has a tentative start date of June 27, 2015 and a completion date of July 31, 2015.  During this phase the pavement joints around the new patches will be sealed.  Traffic will be shifted as required while maintaining at lease one lane of traffic in each direction at all times. Project clean up and restoration will also be completed in this phase.

Nankin Blvd. will be closed to thru traffic at Central City Parkway for the duration of the project.  Access to all businesses and residences on Nankin Blvd. north of Central City Parkway will be maintained at all times from Wayne Rd, and access to all businesses on  Nankin Blvd. south of Central City Blvd. will be  maintained at all times from Warren Rd.

The detour route for north bound traffic will be east on Warren Rd., then north on Wayne Rd.  For south bound traffic, the detour route is south on Wayne Rd., then west on Warren Rd.

"Central City Parkway is a commonly traveled road as it cuts directly through the heart of the City's "Shop and Dine" District.  This project is a small piece in the larger picture of improving the quality of travel within the City of Westland," Stated Mayor Wild.

If you have any specific questions on the road construction, such as scheduling or access to businesses, please call Mr. Mitch Master, Project Field Engineer for OHM, at (734) 855-9876.
