" A 40th Anniversary"
by Ted Tyler

Disaster! It's the evening of Wednesday, September 4, 1974 and The Tyler Place's 140-year old Inn (located just off Route 7) is on fire. Starting of unknown cause in the spacious 4th floor attic, the flames worked their way downward through the third and second sleeping floors. In that year we closed after Labor Day (which fell on September 2 in 1974) so there were no guests in the building and just two staff - who exited safely.
