"Support South Carolina Leo's"

South Carolina Lions, it brings me great pleasure to report to you the growth of the Leo Club program in South Carolina. We have seen steady growth over the last three years. We had two new clubs in 2012, four new clubs in 2013, five new clubs in 2014, and we have the possibility of several new clubs this year. We currently have eighteen clubs of which eleven have formed in the last three years.

Time for Reflection

This is an exciting time of year for us as Lions.  We are almost half way through our Lions year and District Conventions are coming up.  Goals are revisited.  Plans are made.  Quarterly reports are to be filed.  This in addition to all of the other things we have to take care of at this time of the year.  Time for reflection is not usually a part of this season, we are too busy working on our "to do" list. Reflection doesn't come easily.  It is hard work. The benefits are tremendous.  Let's try some reflection.

83% Voted Yes

Thanks to the 978,208 voters (83% of the total casted votes) who voted YES on South Carolina Amendment 1 to legalize charitable raffles for our nonprofit organizations. Prior to yesterday, South Carolina was one of four states where raffles were illegal, and we're happy to report that our state and Kansas both voted successfully on amendments. We hope you pause today to celebrate this major victory - but our work is not yet done!

Sustaining Member and Candy Day Reminder

This is a friendly reminder that the tax year is coming to an end.  We moved the start of the Sustaining Member campaign from October to July this year.  I know that many of you were planning to wait until closer to year's end to make your contribution. Please remember we must receive contributions by December 31st if you want to include them in this tax year.

Currently, approximately 16% of South Carolina Lions support the Sustaining Member Program annually.  Our goal this year is to move closer to 50% of SC Lions participating in the program.

Will You Make This Holiday Season Special?

District 32-B Article

Lions are special people that are always dedicated to helping others as "We Serve".    Therefore, I am asking every Lion during this special season to help one person, one family or organization.  Make this a "special project" for your club.  We are so fortunate to be able to make someone else's holiday just a little special.  I hope to hear back from you regarding what you were able to do for someone else this holiday.

REGIFTING A GIFT

District 32-C Article

"The greatest gift of life is friendship, and I have received it," Hubert H Humphrey. This is the time of year that we think of gifts, giving and receiving and those special gifts of the past. I am especially thankful for the gifts of Family, Friends, and Freedom.  With these gifts, sometimes we are selfish and want to keep them to ourselves.  At other times we will share them with the world.  I want to share with you a special gift I received about five years ago, my friend Marvin Frieson.

District 32-C Happenings

District 32-C had a month full of activities in November. From a "Run for Sight" in Mullins, Beautification projects in McBee, Strides Walks, Peace Poster Winners recognitions and a Lion recognized for many years of service in North Myrtle Beach, to finally Candy Days in Sumter. 32-C is full of Service.

Strengthening the Pride

Through Training Others to Lead

District 32-D Articles

What does that line from International President Joe Preston's theme song say to us? I think he is encouraging us to do more training and especially within our own Clubs. Based on what we have heard from 32 of our District clubs, very few are doing any training of members to help them understand what being a Lion really means and as a result, we have very few Lions willing to step up to Club and District Leadership roles. And when the Lions do volunteer to step up to the Leadership roles, they seem to lack the compassion and enthusiasm to do anything with the role they have selected.
