Join us for a fascinating day at Loyola Marymount University on May 13th. We have some top speakers lined-up, including: Assistant Secretary of State, Evan Ryan; President of the Center for Global Engagement, Goli Ameri; President of Loyola Marymount University, David Burcham; Ambassador Frank Baxter; Councilman for the City of Beirut, Lebanon, Nadim Costa; Director of the USC Center for Public Diplomacy, Jay Wang; Director of the Global Entrepreneurship Program of the Economic Bureau at the Department of State, Caron De Mars; and Director of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Bixel Exchange, Kevin Lew - to name just a few.

Come for the morning, the Luncheon or the final Reception - or best of all join us for the whole day! Whatever time fits your schedule it will be time well-spent gaining new information on topics that impact us all. The summit, which celebrates IVCLA's 35th Anniversary and the U.S. Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program's 75th Anniversary, is part of a nation-wide series co-hosted by the U.S. Department of State and Global Ties U.S.

The Diplomacy Begins Here Summit will explore the Los Angeles area's role in global communications through its thriving Silicon Beach and the entrepreneurial spirit that feeds it; the importance of STEM education, locally as well as its role in U.S. foreign policy; science, technology and innovation as global endeavors, and their implications for global trade to the L.A. region.

IVCLA's mission is to create international understanding and cooperation between the Los Angeles region and the rest of the world through citizen diplomacy. Citizen diplomacy is the concept that the individual citizen has the right - indeed the responsibility - to help shape foreign relations. In an era of increasing globalization, more and more people develop their most lasting impressions through face-to-face, personal encounters. Citizen Diplomats are a powerful force in defining the United States to the rest of the world and giving U.S. citizens greater understanding about today's world. In this time of global turmoil, the international dialogues we facilitate are vital to creating a more peaceful world.

We hope to see you there! Register now, space is limited.
