6:30 - 8 p.m.: Exhibition closing reception at Alter Space, 1158 Howard Street

Bring in 2015 with a co-produced event celebrating two exhibitions by Matthew Gottschalk. The evening begins at 5 p.m. with a sidewalk chat between curator Kevin Chen and the artist in front of his Grove Street window installation, The Higher We Rise, The Further Away I Seem. Then we'll stroll to Alter Space, where Gottschalk has just completed a residency, and view his current exhibition, This Is Where Home Is.

Invest in Neighborhoods Request for Proposals
 
The Office of Economic & Workforce Development is issuing a request for proposals for grants to strengthen neighborhood commercial districts by implementing improvement projects and providing business services. For more information download and review the Request for Proposals.

Proposals are due by 5 p.m. on January 9, 2015.

California's statewide arts education coalition, CREATE CA, hosts a special convening of arts educators and leaders, creative economy business partners, parents and community arts advocates that includes:
  • Excitement, energy, and engagement around the new California Blueprint for Creative Schools
  • Keynote speakers, workshop sessions, and provocative conversations focused on an education vision with the arts and creativity at its center.
  • New developments in the field, new collaborative opportunities, and deepened cross-organizational relationships.
