Tasting Wines - December 5-6, 2015
Gardiz Prosecco, Italy, $12.99
Prosecco is a wine that was born more than a century ago among the hills of Valdobbieadene. Gardiz Prosecco is light bodied with a small amount of residual sugar. On the nose, there are hints of pear, apple, wild flowers, and citrus. It is fresh and lively with aromas of white peach and sweet and tangy tangerine. It is followed by a smooth, crisp finish.
Cantina Ronca Bardolino, Italy, $14.99
This light-bodied ruby red wine (Corvina and Rondinella grapes) has aromas of grapes, blackberries and spices. In the mouth, it is smooth and velvety, with a well balanced and fine structure. This Bardolino is wonderful with risotto and pasta dishes and also suitable to accompany cold cuts and cheese and fish dishes.
Fattoria il Lago Chianti Rufina, Italy $16.99
This Chianti (100% percent Sangiovese) is made on an ancient farm located just outside of Florence. Produced from a single vineyard, this wine exhibits a moderately intense aromatic, earthy bouquet of ripe cherries and violets. With a balanced, slightly dry medium body and soft tannins, this wine can pair well with many meat and pasta dishes.
La Siepi di San Giovani Cabernet Sauvignon, $14.99
This Cabernet Sauvignon is an intense, ruby red-colored wine with purple-violet reflections. It has an exceptionally thick, full, persistent, warm and round taste with a prolonged and dry finish. It ideally matches red barbecued meat dishes or stews.
