Seeking Student Assistant for Administrative Assignments
 
The Mortenson Center is looking for a student to assist with the preparation of the weekly and quarterly EDC digests, and other tasks as they arise.
 
Hourly employment, with 10 hour per week maximum, throughout the spring semester.  [Remember that student employees are limited to working a total of 20 hours per week across all appointments. Therefore, students with 50% RA or TA appointments are not eligible to apply.]

$12/hour

Sheldon Himelfarb, President and CEO, PeaceTech Lab

Sheldon is the President and CEO of the PeaceTech Lab.
The  Lab was created by the U.S. Institute of Peace as a 
separate entity to further advance USIP's work at the intersection of technology, media, and data to help reduce violent conflict around the world. Sheldon Himelfarb joined USIP from The Corporate Executive Board, where he was on the Technology Practice Leadership Team, working with chief information officers from governments, universities and multi-national corporations. He holds a doctorate from Oxford University and a bachelor's degree in political science from Johns Hopkins University. He has held visiting or guest scholar positions at the Brookings Institution, Harvard University and the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University.

The last EDC Social of the semester is coming up soon.
Don't let this one pass you by! We will have an area reserved for us upstairs at the Dark Horse. This event will feature free appetizers and a White Elephant Gift Exchange. If you would like to participate in the gift exchange, wrap up an interesting item lying around your house that you no longer want and bring it to the gift exchange.

Post-Doc Position with Fecal Waste Accounting
 
The University of North Carolina Water Institute is  accepting applications for a post-doctoral researcher  in sanitation. Research will focus on "fecal waste  accounting" to estimate the release of untreated  waste to the environment from sanitation technologies  at various steps of the fecal waste management chain.  Research in this area seeks to help prioritize the risks  from leakages and their control.
