A Letter From the Director
Here we are in the last month of the year; time truly flies! This December the Chamber of Commerce of Okeechobee County has plenty planned for our members and the community.

Of course, we will hold our monthly Business After Hours networking event on Tuesday, December 8th from 5:00p.m. to 7:00 p.m. This month's Business After Hours Sponsor is Rustic Style & Cabins. Rustic Style and Cabins is owned by our newest chamber board member, Nita Salmon. We would love to show her a warm welcome to the board so please take the time to come by our event for some refreshments to meet Nita and her team.

We can't forget about our monthly Concealed Weapons Class that will be held Thursday, December 17th at the Chamber of Commerce at 7:00 PM. Admission requires a $40.00 payment prior to the class. You can stop by the chamber or visit the Chamber of Commerce website to sign up!

I want to thank everyone, businesses and shoppers alike, that participated in our Small Business Saturday event! The event was truly a hit with everyone that I have spoken to so far, and I could not be happier with the turnout that day. From learning that a participating business had a record-breaking sales day, to hearing a local shopper say 'it felt just like the good old days when you would shop on Park Street and see everyone you knew' the day was truly excellent! I am already looking forward to making the event bigger and better next year so even more businesses and shoppers can participate.

The chamber would not be able to make any of this happen without its members. With that being said I would like to congratulate and most of all thank our newest members that joined in November. Thank you to Audibel Hearing Care Centers, Lake O Real Estate, Papa John's and Suzie's Hallmark Shop.

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays

Chamber's Small Business Saturday huge success
The Chamber of Commerce of Okeechobee County rallied the community to stay in town and shop local on Saturday, November 28th where they handed out goodie bags stuffed with discount offers from over 30 small businesses. The event was held at the chamber where shoppers stopped to pick up a goodie bag and a 'passport' of participating businesses as well as a free coffee and doughnut breakfast.

Once the shoppers had their passport of businesses in hand they could stop in as many stores as they liked to use their special discount offers. For every store the shoppers visited they got a raffle ticket entered to win a stocking donated by Thread Works Embroidery that was filled with goodies from Nature's Pantry and Beetle Bug's Craft Store. The winners of this year's stockings are: Dowling Watford and Gayle Molyneaux.

Small Business Saturday created happy small business owners and happy shoppers alike; one business even let the chamber know they had a record breaking sales day. Shoppers had a great time too saying 'it felt just like the good old days when you would know everyone shopping on Park Street.'

With a success like this for the first Small Business Saturday event, we already cannot wait for next year. Next year we plan on making it even bigger and better
