This week we gather to light candles, toll bells and name loved ones in our prayers as we remember those who have died in the last twelve months.  We especially remember the members of our Nativity family who have united with the Church Triumphant since last All Saints Day:

Bette Berger
 Ed Ehlers
 Fred Franklin
Donna Gress
Lucie Herrmann
Jack Roshong
Jane Shindler
Galen Smitten
Bob Wright.

So, the question is:  "How do we respond?"  How do we respond to the changes in our midst?  How do we respond to the challenges and opportunities in our community?  How do we respond to the call of discipleship that our Lord puts in front of us each and every day?  How do we respond to the gifts that were first given to us by God?

THANK YOU! Thank you to all of Nativity for supporting the gathering, sewing, and assembly of the LWR School Kits. We are sending 113 kits in 12 boxes, weighing 388 pounds, to the Lutheran World Relief warehouse in New Windsor, Maryland for distribution worldwide. We will be able to track the kits as LWR distributes them to their partners in various countries and will keep you posted on where they are sent. Last year our 62 Personal Care Kits went to Yemen, Lebanon, and to countries worldwide where LWR had not shipped before.

The Nativity Quilters are sending 152 quilts to LWR this year. The ladies have worked very hard and made 31 more quilts than last year. Last year's quilts were delivered to India, Djibouti, and the country of Georgia. Our youth put together 15 fleece tied blankets that will be shipped with the quilts and kits. We will keep you posted about where the quilts and blankets are distributed.

Thank you to all who supported these projects. Nativity has reached out beyond our congregation, beyond our country, to our brothers and sisters in need all around the world. We will never meet these people but we will know that we have been God's hands to make a difference in their lives.

Women of Nativity will meet on Thursday, November 12, at 11:00 am in the fellowship hall. Bring a bag lunch if you want and join in the discussion concerning a Rob Bell DVD. All women are welcome.

Immediately following the Women's meeting, the Card Ministry will meet at 12:30 pm to make cards for our members on the prayer list and our college students. Please make sure the church office has your young adult's current college address. This group has fun making beautiful cards under the direction of Ruth Tracy. Talent is not needed, but we need all the willing hands who come. All are welcome.
